As a TiG Welder, your responsibilities will include:

  • Fabrication and welding various Aerospace & Defence components from Aluminium, Stainless Steel and Titanium.

  • Fillet and butt welds in thicknesses and combinations between 0.5mm to 3mm (occasionally thicker).

  • Manual torch brazing of aluminium and stainless steel.

  • Working to tight tolerances and deadlines.

  • Welding to Aircraft standards and specifications.

  • Maintaining a clean and organised work area as required.

  • Following all health and safety guidelines.

About You – Requirements

  • Proven experience in TiG welding. Aerospace or defence sectors experience will be preferred.

Main Duties

  • Carry out material lay-up work using pre-impregnated carbon fibre, glass fibre and wet lay-up techniques.

  • Prepare, handle and apply composite materials accurately in line with job requirements, work instructions and quality standards.

  • Complete vacuum bagging, curing and autoclave preparation processes to support the manufacture of high-quality composite components.

  • Work from technical drawings, templates and production documentation to ensure components are manufactured to specification.

  • Inspect finished work for quality, accuracy and consistency, reporting any issues or defects to the relevant team member.

  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe working area, following all company health, safety and housekeeping standards.

  • Support the wider production team with additional manufacturing tasks where required.

 Desired Experience

  • Previous experience in a laminating, composites, aerospace, automotive, marine or high-quality manufacturing environment.

  • Hands-on experience with carbon fibre, glass fibre, pre-preg materials or wet lay-up processes would be advantageous.

  • Experience following technical drawings, job cards, work instructions or standard operating procedures.

  • Background in producing work to tight tolerances, quality standards and customer specifications.

  • Experience using hand tools, cutting equipment, trimming tools or basic workshop equipment.

  • Understanding of vacuum bagging, curing, bonding, finishing or inspection processes would be beneficial.

  • A strong awareness of health, safety, housekeeping and quality control within a production setting.

The Senior Laboratory Technician function will work closely under the direction of the Quality Manager who is responsible for quality compliance, on a wide range of quality assurance and control activities to ensure our KPIs are achieved.

The successful candidate will work within the laboratory department supporting all periodic testing requirements and other laboratory functions in accordance with a range of strict written standards.  You will be required to support in the review of laboratory test reports and understand what action to take when there are opportunities to prevent risk or make improvements identified through reliable test data.  You will have a sound understanding of working safely around chemicals and substances and have a demonstrated background of working within a Laboratory, using a range of laboratory hardware.

Main Duties

  • Managing laboratory workload in line with strict testing requirements and time scales to ensure compliance with customer, national and international requirements.

  • Analysing laboratory tests for trends.

  • Ensuring correct actions are taken when warning limits have been reached within solution analysis (tank additions, drops, refills).

  • Investigation of any failures, false failures and non-compliances.

  • Review of certificates for externally carried out testing.

  • Review of certificates for laboratory and production consumables.

  • Ensuring efficient stock control is always maintained.

  • Review of current and creating of new work instructions/technique sheets/forms, standard operating procedures and any other required documents.

  • Management of new qualification processes and support of the required testing.

  • Supporting Special Process Engineer in any additional testing requirements following customer enquiries.

  • Day to day use of electronic titration systems, artificial corrosion test chambers and other laboratory devices/equipment.

  • COSHH assessments in line with current SDS.

  • Ensuring the health and safety procedures are always followed.

  • Supporting laboratory technician with hands on testing as required and holiday coverage.

  • Supporting internal and external audits from laboratory perspective.

About the opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Aerospace Coppersmith to join our skilled fabrication team. This role is integral to the manufacture of precision sheet metal components, ducting and pipework assemblies used in high-performance aerospace applications.

You will play a key role in interpreting engineering data and transforming raw materials into complex, high-tolerance components, working strictly in line with aerospace quality and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manufacture, form, and assemble aerospace sheet metal components, including ducting, pipework and structural fabrications.

  • Work with a range of materials including aluminium, stainless steel and titanium.

  • Interpret and work from complex engineering drawings, technical specifications and work instructions.

  • Carry out accurate marking out, cutting, forming and finishing operations.

  • Use hand tools, press tools, rollers and forming equipment to produce high-precision parts.

  • Ensure all work complies with AS9100 quality standards and customer specifications.

  • Conduct in-process inspection and self-verification of work to ensure accuracy and quality.

  • Management of non-conforming product and quarantine controls.

  • Supporting with FAIR review and completion in accordance with AS9102 and Business Core Procedures.

  • Supporting with APQP/PPAP review and completion in accordance with AS9145 and Business Core Procedures.

As an Airframe Fitter, you will be involved with the assembly of our core product working with a variety of metallic structures.  You’ll perform all assembly operations in line with our Standard Operating Procedures, whilst working to the approved quality standards.

You will be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and have the ability to ensure that the correct equipment is used and fully calibrated. 

Essential Requirements:

  • Must be committed to working safely and comply with the 5S standards in place.

  • Aerospace airframe / structural assembly experience, preferably working within the aerospace industry.

  • Ability to read / understand drawings and aerospace specifications.

  • Key processes: drilling, countersinking, riveting, use of sealants, fitting helicoils, bearing, bushes etc.

  • Trade test to be completed as a follow up / 2nd stage interview to demonstrate ability to carry out assembly processes to aerospace quality standards.

The hours for this role are compressed over four days working 7:00am-4:30pm Monday - Thursday.
